Supporting Mental and Behavioral Health and Wellness
Outpatient Mental and Behavioral programs provide services to families throughout Colorado.
We are dedicated to supporting family stability, reunification, and overall mental and behavioral health and wellness. These services include trauma-informed outpatient counseling for children, adolescents, and adults, family preservation, supervised family time, therapeutic visitation, life skills, parenting skills, and behavioral coaching (mentoring).
Services are provided in-home, in the community, in-office, or virtually to provide maximum flexibility of service delivery.

Through compassionate care, evidence-based interventions, and ongoing support, we pledge to journey alongside our clients on their path towards improved mental wellness and a brighter future. We vow to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and respect in every interaction, ensuring that each individual feels valued, heard, and supported on their unique journey towards mental health recovery and well-being.
Offering a Continuum of Care
Outpatient individual and family therapy include working with a masters-level clinician to develop a treatment plan with measurable goals to support the individual/family with progress. A strong emphasis is placed on each individual/family’s criminogenic risk factors, and risk assessments and safety planning are utilized in creating individualized strengths-based treatment plans. Suppose any other professionals are working with the individual/family. In that case, the clinician will maintain communication and collaboration with those professionals to provide updates on the treatment goals, treatment progress, and safety concerns.
Outpatient therapy services are provided by a masters-level clinician and offer the following components:
- 24-7 Crisis line
- Flexible scheduling that includes evenings and weekends
In most cases, the clinician will meet weekly with the individual/family for therapy sessions. - Sessions can occur virtually at home, in the community, or in office settings.
- Individual and/or family therapy services are provided as recommended by a professional or through individuals directly requesting services.
- Individuals in crisis can be seen up to 2x a week through Medicaid if needed. Therapy can also be funded through private insurance, private pay, grants, or CORE/DHS funding.
- Individual and family therapy can be used with life skills, parenting skills, and mentoring/behavior coaching services to support individuals/families accessing community services, which they can continue to access after treatment.
Outpatient therapy services are available for all individuals/families, regardless of the level of care or out-of-home placement. Clinicians can address various mental health needs using evidence-based clinical approaches. Therapy services are highly recommended for individuals placed in our foster homes and residential treatment facilities and as individuals transition from our residential programming back into the community setting. The individual may be able to keep the same clinician through the continuum of care provided that is not seen in other programs.
Family preservation services help prevent family disruption, or to prepare for reunification. Family preservation workers may provide in-home intensive therapeutic and behavioral health services that are flexible and individualized to each family. These services may involve intervention with the individual, the entire family, or appropriate community members. Outpatient services can help prevent out-of-home placement, support the transition back into the community from residential services, or help a family prepare for reunification.
Life skills and parenting skills are provided through coaching and modeling to help individuals gain the necessary skills to continue successfully on their own. Services are provided one-on-one by an experienced mentor to help facilitate independent living skills and parenting skills. Skill building can assist parents/guardians/caregivers in overcoming barriers to getting more involved in the youth’s treatment, such as communication, transportation, time management, and skills of advocating for the youth. This program emphasizes the importance of building sustainability and long-term success and getting individuals involved with formal and informal support, which they can continue to access on their own.
Mentoring or behavioral coaching helps youth needing assistance to successfully reintegrate back into the community, whether this is with the family or moving to independent living status. This service encompasses a variety of mentoring and skill-building activities in a strengths-based approach. Intensive one-on-one mentoring is provided by experienced mentors to help facilitate building relationships, increasing pro-social skills, and learning from a role model. This program emphasizes the importance of building sustainability and long-term success and getting youth involved with formal and informal support which they can continue to access on their own.
Therapeutic Visitation is a service in which a masters-level therapist provides the family with therapeutic interventions during court-ordered visitation. This can include modeling appropriate behaviors for the parent/family member/caregiver, stepping in when a child is acting out, and/or showing the parent/family member/caregiver how to do basic skills such as diapering, bathing, or overall engagement of the child/ren while visiting. The main goal of therapeutic visitation is to empower and educate the parent/family member/caregiver on how to care for their child, in a therapeutic manner. The therapist is always present with the family during the visit and physical and verbal interactions are monitored.
Supervised Family Time is a service in which a bachelors-level visitation facilitator supervises the interactions between parent/family member/caregiver and child/ren during court-ordered visitation. The visitation facilitator is there to ensure all interactions are safe, child-centered, and appropriate. There are no therapeutic interventions; however, the visitation facilitator may provide the parent with parenting psycho-education material to increase their parental skill base. The visitation facilitator is always present with the family during the visit and physical and verbal interactions are monitored.
In 2018, Griffith Centers launched it’s Telebehavioral Health (TBH) program to increase our impact. This program is helping to increase flexibility and overall access to care throughout Colorado. This program provides remote services to individuals that do not otherwise have easy access to care, allowing them to receive services from qualified professionals in the comfort of their own homes. During the pandemic, TBH made it possible for individuals to continue receiving services without disruption. And now, in 2022, Griffith Centers has received a grant that will allow us to grow this program. This grant will help Griffith Centers update broadband capacity, open new locations in remote areas, and provide technical support and devices to staff and community members in need.
